Early Game
Buy a Soul Ring Recipe, 1 Salve, 1 Tango, and two Ironwood branches. Go to a side lane and focus on last hitting creeps to buy. You can attempt first blood if you're against an enemy with no escape mechanism as soon as you hit level 2. One of the better early game tricks of Tauren Chieftain is to successfully stomp an enemy while only 1 enemy creep remains so that your creeps would attack him next. Your goal for early game is to get Soul Ring, just buy the Sobi Mask and RoR from the side shops. After building soul ring, you can almost always liberally spam Spirit and Stomp whenever it is needed.

Midgame
By midgame you should try killing the squishier heroes and building your vanguard. If you catch any hero below 30% HP in a stomp/ancestral-stomp combo, don't hesitate to use your ultimate to get a frag if none of your teammates would be able to finish the enemy off. Your main priority is still to stop enemy pushes. After vanguard, you could try to build up

Late Game
You start to lose effectiveness but you still are someone to fear. You can counter push really well thanks to your skills. Your skills alone can change a losing game to your favor. Just do your job, play safe and support your teammates and go for the win.
